Time for a Springtime Roof Check
April 27, 2016
Routine and thorough inspections are important to keep a roof in good working order.
Here are some tips to help identify and fix issues before they become bigger problems:
- Scan the roof for missing, loosened or damaged shingles as well as cracked caulk or
rust spots on flashing.
- Check the chimney for damage, such as broken bricks or cracked mortar.
- Clear gutters and downspouts. Collections of debris can cause blockages, which often leads to structural problems.
- Trim tree branches that hang too closely to (or directly above) the roof.
It’s also an important time to calculate your overall cost of debt for more affordable options.
